- Product lead for a dive-charter operations platform covering bookings, customer profiles, account credits, certification verification, waivers, dive site management, vessel certification, and crew training, delivered as a web back end plus iOS and Android apps.
- Own product direction end to end: define what the system has to do, lay out the interface and user flows, write the specifications, and set the logic behind every fix. Only features large enough to reshape the platform go to the owner for sign-off.
- Direct one external developer, handing off tickets for small work and written specifications for larger builds, with twice-weekly working sessions. Roughly two thirds of the role is product and quality, one third sales.
- Run all acceptance testing: stress passes and rare-edge-case testing on every release, plus a system-wide audit each month. Caught accounting faults before release that would have cost the company thousands.
- Specified the offline-first requirement for the boat app, which holds a trip locally at sea and syncs back to the shared server on reconnect, so crews keep working outside cell coverage.
- Designed an immutable audit log that timestamps every action in the system, from diver check-in and time-in-water to payments and equipment sign-off, giving insurers and the Coast Guard a record no user can alter.
- Built the permissions model: five role presets across owner, manager, captain, crew, and maintenance, backed by roughly fifty individually toggleable permissions.
- Shipped partner accounts, letting affiliated dive shops reserve discounted group seats, submit their own diver rosters, and push automated waiver and certification collection to their customers.
- Cut certification and waiver handling from about ten minutes per diver at the dock to under a minute of pre-departure approval, saving the pilot operator hours every week.
- Own the sales cycle: demos, pricing, closing, and post-sale support. Double Action Dive Charters runs on the platform on Lake Michigan, with Parrot Island Scuba Adventures in Pompano Beach, Florida onboarding now, migrating off a generic activity-booking service.
Double Action Dive Charters
Booking Manager · May 2026–Present · Seasonal, May–October
- Booking manager for Seaquest II, a 47-foot Neuville crew boat rated for sixteen divers, running roughly four charters a weekend out of the Hammond, Indiana port authority, with trips also staged from Milwaukee, Chicago, and Winthrop Harbor.
- Around 500 diver bookings across a season, and the first point of contact for all of them: reservations, payments, deposits, refunds, certification approval, and complaint resolution.
- Manage accounts for fifteen partner dive shops, handling group bookings and roster submission, and coordinate day to day with the crew manager and captains.
- Moved the operation off spreadsheets, paper forms, and a generic booking service onto purpose-built software, integrating certification cards and verification, the onboard tablet, and partner bookings.
- Wrote the partner policy book and built the incident report forms now used by the boat.
- Handle vessel upkeep alongside the booking desk, including installing new onboard camera systems and escalating maintenance needs.
Dive Right In Scuba
Engineering Intern & Technical Sales · Summers 2023–2026
- Four summers at a technical dive retailer in Plainfield, Illinois, moving from sales to a formal engineering internship and on to technical sales and engineering, with stints running the drysuit program and working in regulator repair.
- Completed the formal engineering internship in the second summer, building internal documentation and processes alongside regulator and cylinder repair work.
- Inspected, cleaned, and certified high-pressure aluminum and steel cylinders. TDI Visual Inspection Procedures and TDI Fill Station Technician certified.
- Serviced and rebuilt regulator systems to manufacturer specification, trained across Apeks, Aqualung, and Scubapro platforms and formally licensed on HOG.
- Blended air, banked nitrox, custom trimix, and pure oxygen and argon, drawing on chemistry coursework and advanced technical diving certifications.
- Authored and illustrated three technical reference guides published on the company blog and used by customers and staff alike: backmount, sidemount, and drysuits.
- Ran the drysuit program: customer calls, supply management, work quoting, shipping, and payments.
- Replaced a triple-entry reporting process for drysuit intake and return, where the same job was logged on paper, in Excel, and in DiveShop360, with a single route.
- Drove to Munising, Michigan to measure the Michigan State Police dive team for custom drysuits at roughly $2,500 apiece, where a bad measurement meant a re-order and a four-to-eight week lead time off the water.
- Trained other staff on technical diving equipment sales, and covered shipping, pool, and boat maintenance as needed.
